The first section goes through what kinds of intellectual property rights there are and what they protect. What are intellectual property rights based on and why do they matter?
Copyright
This section will go through what copyright is. What kind of results of creative work can be copyrighted? Who receives the copyright? What does copyright mean?
Transferring copyrights
Copyright belongs to the author of the work. Authors can transfer their copyrights in their entirety or partially. This section will go through issues related to the transfer of copyright. How can copyrights be transferred? Does an employer have rights to the works of an employee, or an institution of higher education to the exercises and assignments of its students?
Use of works
In this section, you will learn what kind of licences there are. When can you take extracts or copies of works for your own use? What does the CC licence mean? What if someone wants to use your work?
Self-producing
This section goes through how I can utilise different materials in my own production. Self-producing can be, for example, creating a study attainment, such as an essay, exercise or thesis. Self-producing also prominently involves data acquisition, information retrieval, information assessment, source comparison, source criticism and source references.
